Abstract

Parents in the contemporary families today, play a vital role in the academic lives of their wards. It is based on this fact that Pomerantz opined that positive parenting sets a general climate for academic success, and parental involvement in their children schooling foster the learning skills and improve their academic achievement. When parents are actively involved in the education of their wards, by providing them with their required learning materials and helping them with their daily homework, it will activate and motivate the children or students to zeal to learn. Parents involving in helping the children in their homework can be of great benefits to the children and the parents too. The act could create opportunities for children to interactions among families. Also, it will help the children to develop a good study habits in the home, motivates and cultivates a positive attitude towards school, and bring to the knowledge of the students and parents to realize that learning can also happens outside of school and not just in school.
