Abstract

Examination is a tool for assessing abilities of students. The better it design the more fruitful will be the result. Unfortunately, examination system of Pakistani colleges is functional on prejudice line. Unfair means are used for getting good grades. Accountability of invigilator and evaluator is absent. The evaluation process of Pakistani education system focus on testing preset knowledge. It ignores assessment of high order mental abilities as well as skill of students. The students are judge only by their memorization power. A student with good memory is considered as an intelligent student. Little opportunity is available for student with creative and problem solving abilities. At present evaluation system does not incorporate skills of students. Various educational policies has stressed on inculcation of activities in curriculum that enhance critical thinking and creative abilities of students. Alteration of examination system and streamlining evaluation procedure on new paradigms has also been proposed in multiple educational policies, but unluckily the same has not been brought into practice till date.
