Congenital causes are developmental abnormalities like coloboma, nanophthalmos, congenital glaucoma, congenital cataract. Acquired causes like macular degeneration, phthisis bulbi, corneal opacity, retinitis pigmentosa, optic atrophy etc. affecting one or both eyes making the patient mild to severely handicapped. With this study, we can identify various causes affecting the vision of the patient. By knowing extent of the disability either we can counsel the patient those who having sufficient vision to deliver the work or we can recommend the patients those who are really blind for the pension scheme. In turn we can reduce their financial burden to the family and society.
Bharath kumar G.R, Vijayasree S, Bhargavi P. Patients present with varied clinical presentations. To evaluate the clinical profile and radiological profile of ischemic stroke patients. To assess the outcome in relation to various clinical and radiological presentations using National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). NIHSS is helpful in identifying persons with stroke from those suspected to have stroke. Knowledge about identifying and reading radiological investigations will help in assessing the severity of stroke.
Bharathkanth Reddy M, Ranjith Kumar P Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/83 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Diagnostic Dilemma of Thyroid Adenoma with Supraclavicular Tuberculous Lymphadenitis http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/84
Thyroid nodule is a discrete lesion in thyroid gland, that is radiologically distinct from the surrounding thyroid parenchyma. The clinical importance of thyroid swelling is related to evaluating their functional status and assess, whether it is benign, malignant ,hypo or hyper active. Thus, subjected to a repeat FNA (fine needle aspiration) from thyroid which revealed benign thyroid follicular adenoma and FNA from supraclavicular lymph node revealed tuberculous lymphadenitis, which was further confirmed by histological sections post operatively. To conclude, supraclavicular lymphadenopathy in a patient with thyroid swelling is not always suggestive of metastatic spread. Tuberculosis should be considered an important differential in the etiology of supraclavicular lymphadenopathy in a patient with thyroid swelling. Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is an accurate and cost-effective way to evaluate thyroid nodules and lymphadenopathy. Thorough preoperative evaluation helps accurate diagnosis, management and to avoid morbidity related to unnecessary surgical procedure.
Nagendra Mahendra, Abhijeet Ingle, Dharmendra kumar borad Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/84 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Study of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia in Women of Childbearing Age http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/85
The commonest arrhythmia in women of reproductive age, is paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). We present a rare case of SVT who presented for the first time during pregnancy, who failed to respond to Electrical cardioversion(ECV), but reverted back to sinus rhythm by secondline pharmacotherapy. accurate diagnosis, regular follow up and multidisciplinary approach during acute episode and during delivery can prevent life threatening risks that might be posed to the mother and fetus. Non-pharmacological therapy, followed by adenosine and other drugs if required, and lastly ECV with adequate maternal and fetal monitoring, can be used with good success rates in intractable cases. Treatment options include nonpharmacological therapy, followed by adenosine and other drugs if required, and lastly electrical cardioversion.
Prabhu Gauri, Shubha SR, M.B.Bellad , Metgud Shridevi Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/85 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 The Difference Between Autism and Other Diseases http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/86
Research needs to focus on isolated cases of true autism. All subjects being studied must be documented to function with perpetual hyperfocus, the defining characteristic of autism. Then and only then can a meaningful correlation be found between autism and its genetic markers. Perhaps this research may also discover the nature of the dysfunction of the CG that causes autistic hyperfocus.
Grove J, Ripke S, Bǿrglum AD Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/86 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Failure Case Study of Unorthodox Medicine http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/87
Three original reported cases concerned bone fractures which were so poorly treated as to end with amputation. Also, 25 cases came up as bone setter’s gangrene. The above series pertained mostly to males. In the present series, only males were involved. It would seem therefore that male activity tended to result in lesions, which turned out to be poorly managed. What stood out locally was involvement of the legs with chronicity of the lesions which led to ulceration and then to squamous cell carcinomas. Incidentally, back in 1975, such a lesion was classically called “tropical ulcer”. Incidentally, the conclusion then ran explicitly thus: “We think the etiology may be a combination of the hot humid environment, trauma, local infection and malnutrition. Aggressive treatment of these ulcers is advocated, to heal the wounds and to prevent malignant transformation.” In conclusion, much work was done in the 1980s in several parts of the world. Nowadays, as an Australian research still shows the relevance of the subject. Thus, every contribution on the subject is deemed to be worthy of research, seeing that any observations are still challenging.
Robinson DC, Adriaans B Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/87 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Management of Dentin Allergy http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/88
The evidence from the included studies would suggest that while some positive improvements have been made since the recommendations of the Canadian consensus report in terms of the diagnosis and management, there is still obvious confusion in the basic scientific understanding of DH together with a lack of confidence by clinicians in treating the condition. The recommendations to include the basic scientific understanding together with current clinical research outcomes in the treatment of DH cannot be overlooked. The implementation of preventive and management strategies in treating DH dental practice is also recommended.
Afolbi.K, Ogundipe Copyright (c) 2022 http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/88 Tue, 31 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of Central Nervous System Repair Cases http://8.218.148.162:8081/JCRM/article/view/89
Generally, the hygiene has to be improved. Handles and hand rails have to be, for example, made of brass which is bacteriostatic. Also viruses will have problems to survive on clean brass. In Germany and Switzerland, the Author has not seen any yellow-looking handles so far. For cleaning the hands, soap is best because the soap ruins the lipid membrane of viruses so that they cannot attach to cells anymore and washing the hands with soap does not ruin the healthy bacteria of the skin for protection. Whereas disinfections kill pathologic and healthy microbes of the skin.
